Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce in Cooperation with Senator Carl L. Marcellino to Host “Going Green” Symposium and Business Expo

With much appropriate global attention currently being focused on negative effects on our environment and its future impact, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with by Senator Carl L. Marcellino will host a very important “Going Green Symposium and Business Expo” on Wednesday, September 19 from 7:30-11:00 AM at the Crest Hollow Country Club, 8325 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury.  This timely event, will be moderated by Greg Cergol, Long Island Correspondent, NBC4 and will feature experts in the fields of environmental conservation, business and industry who will participate in a panel discussion.  Vendors will be available to provide demonstrations of products for your home and business and present exhibits all geared towards promoting a green environment. 

The distinguished panel of experts to date include Bruce Germano, VP Retail Sales, Long Island Power Authority;  Sarah Lansdale, Executive Director, Sustainable Long Island; Patti Wood, Executive Director, Grassroots Environmental Education; Ron Lanner, Partner, H2M Group; Daniel Losquadro, Suffolk County Legislator and Frank Mruk, Associate Dean for School of
Architecture & Design, New York Institute of Technology.  Among the issues to be discussed and exhibits presented will be alternative and flex fuel  vehicles, organic cleaning products , energy-efficient lighting, building and architecture, solar and clean energy options and other green products currently available for use at home or at work.   Sponsors to date include Long Island Transportation Management, H2M, Moss Spa Yoga, JVKelly Group and Clean Air NY.

“This is truly an important and timely discussion that our Chamber members and our community must engage in if we are to preserve our environment for future generations,“ said Jim Kelly, Chairman.  “Long Island and in particular Huntington Township is proud of its open spaces, clear waterways, parks, beaches and other recreational areas.  We must pay attention and participate in the international dialogue presently taking place relative to global warming, ending our reliance on foreign oil as the primary means to support our modes of transportation, and adopt environmentally friendly alternatives within our lifestyles whether at home or at work.  Our “Growing Green Symposium and Expo” on September 19 is a realistic first step to bring this global dialogue to Long Island,” added Kelly.
