Huntington Village merchants will celebrate the season with a night of music and festivities on Wall Street. The “’Tis The Season Holiday Stroll” will be held Thursday, December 17, 5 – 9 p.m. on all Street, Huntington Village. Wall Street will be closed to traffic between Main and Gerard Streets for the festivities, which will include a tree lighting, holiday music, visits with Santa and gifts for children, and arts and crafts activities and free hot chocolate for all.

The event is being organized by a group of Wall Street restaurant owners with help from the Huntington Village Business Improvement District, both to celebrate the season while bringing traffic into the downtown shopping area.

“Mostly  we want to make something festive happen to celebrate the season,” said Jack Palladino, owner of Christopher’s Courtyard Café. “This is our way of giving something back to the community. In addition, we’re urging store owners to remain open for late shopping that night so they can welcome shoppers and visitors.”

Palladino, along with La Bottega owner Joe Quirke, and Juniors Pizza/Almarco Italian Grill owner Mark Salese, will be providing free hot chocolate and treats during the event.

Musical entertainment will be provided by students from Huntington schools performing holiday selections. Catch the Woodhull School Advanced Orchestra, under director Claude Masear, from 5:30 – 6 p.m. The Huntington High School Concert Choir,  directed by Veronica Escamilla, performs at 6 p.m.; Huntington High School’s Chamber Orchestra, directed by Lisa Leonardi, plays from 7 – 8 p.m.; and Woodhull Intermediate School’s Advanced Chorus (partial group), directed by Amanda Shimkin, performs until 9 p.m.

Art activities for children will be conducted by Studio Art, a drop-in art center for children recently opened on Main Street. The kids also don’t want to miss Santa’s arrival at 8 p.m. He’ll have gifts and candy canes for children.

When you come, bring an unwrapped toy for the Huntington Marine Corps Leagues Toys For Tots drive, and non-perishable food items to be distributed to area food banks by members of the Huntington High School student government.
