Patrick Stay

Suffolk County Department of Labor

Patrick Stay is a Career Counselor and the Veteran Job Seeker Specialist for the Suffolk County Department of Labor in Hauppauge, NY since January 2016.  Patrick's function as a Career Counselor is to guide the unemployed, underemployed, and emerging workers in attaining the skills they need to access and advance within the workplace.

As a Veteran Job Seeker Specialist, Patrick assists active servicemen and women and veterans with their job search. He also gets these individuals connected with military outreach organizations and programs in the Suffolk County area to ease their transition back to civilian life.   These organizations that Patrick collaborates with provide services in areas of food distribution, mental health services, housing assistance, pro bono legal services, and clothes donations, just to name a few.

Patrick also holds an office at the Suffolk County Veteran Service Agency in the Dennison Building which is also in Hauppauge.  The Veteran Service Agency is committed to aiding Suffolk County Veterans and their families through the pursuance of veteran benefits at the county, state, and federal level.

While Patrick isn't a veteran himself, he holds the military very close to his heart.  His father served in the US Army in the 9th Infantry Division, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry in Vietnam as a Riverine in the Mobile Riverine Force.  He received the Purple Heart when he was shot nearby the Mekong Delta.

Patrick has been a member of the Town of Huntington's Chamber of Commerce Veterans Committee since April 2016.  Patrick was appointed co-chairman of the Veteran's Committee in 2022 along with Michael Whalen of M&T Bank appointed soon thereafter.  The committee serves as a resource and advocate for military members and their families through civic, business, and volunteer organizations and efforts.  The committee collects resources to make available to the public, collects donations for service people overseas, creates fundraisers, and brings awareness to struggles veterans face each day.   You do not have to be a veteran to be a member.

He can be reached at the email address and phone number below.  Thank you!
