In February, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of “The Ivy”, located on 65 Wall Street, Huntington. Opened in November 2021, The Ivy is a completely renovated bar and lounge space bringing the “Instagrammable” aspect to Huntington. With ivy covered walls and a neon sign “Meet Me at the Ivy” right in the entrance, this is one restaurant that is hard to miss.
Started by Zach Barrotta, his brother Michael Barrotta and owner of Shrimpy’s Burrito Bar, Ryan DiPaula, The Ivy is a trendy restaurant and night spot right in the village, all created with the intention of being a place that constantly catches your eye. From the neon signs, faux ivy on the walls, trendy cocktail list and more, there is never a dull moment when you’re in the Ivy. When The Ivy opened on the night before Thanksgiving, the current COVID wave was still a few weeks off. “It’s definitely an emotional roller coaster,” said Barrotta. “You feel like you are trying to sprint forward and someone is holding you by your belt loop, holding you back. We put every resource we have into the space, and it’s nerve-racking if we face another shutdown. We’re trying to power forward and make sure everyone is safe.” That includes, he said, the 40 employees hired to run The Ivy.
Menu wise, the food focuses on traditional Italian dishes with modern twist. Almost everything is crafted from scratch with time-honored recipes handed down throughout their family. Menu items range from Pizettas, Wagyu Burgers, Chicken Parm and more- covering the gamut for foodies, alike.
The Ivy opens at 5 p.m. during the week and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; happy hour and weekend brunch are forthcoming.
